When Will Adam Schefter Rumor Matt LaFleur As a Notre Dame Candidate?
Adam Schefter is not a real journalist any longer. Adam deserves all the money that he has and the fame. He got up through the ESPN ranks and is now the kingmaker of football news breakers on ESPN. Good for him. But Schefter is much more tied to the agents than his counterparts, Adrian Wojnarowski and Jeff Passan. On Sunday after Lincoln Riley took the USC job, Schefter tweeted out that Kliff Kingsbury could be a real candidate for Oklahoma. Kingsbury has a year left on his deal, and it’s pretty clear that Kingsburgy’s agent is trying to get Kliff paid. I don’t blame the hustle one bit.
Oklahoma has targeted Cardinals’ HC Kliff Kingsbury as one of the potential replacements for Lincoln Riley, league sources tell ESPN.
Kingsbury has one year remaining on his contract after this season.

I’m shocked that we haven’t seen the same thing for Matt LaFleur and Notre Dame. Schefty is slipping! You might recall that LaFleur was the quarterbacks’ coach at Notre Dame. If this were the 60’s, maybe Notre Dame would have a shot at LaFleur, but it’s not, and LaFleur is fucking good at his job so there are no worries that he might bolt for the college game. Also, this probably says everything you need to know about Kingsbury and LaFleur. One is still being talked about for college positions because management will not play him. The other is going to be the king of Green Bay until further notice.
Now if Kingsbury ends up taking the Oklahoma job, I’ll look like a real asshole and Schefty can dunk on me like I’m Gabe Vincent and he’s Anthony Edwards. Until then, we will keep making these jokes.
