This is Bucks Buzz. It’s the daily recap of Milwaukee Bucks. We hope to do this every night after the game or right away the next morning pending on timing, viewability all that stuff. We’ll look at a player of the game for both teams, a ‘not’ player of the game for Milwaukee specifically and a positive/negative to take away from each game.

Player of the Game (Bucks): Giannis Antetokounmpo – What a start for Giannis. He scored 31 points, pulls down nine boards and five assists. Charlotte threw a lot of different things at him, but Antetokounmpo kept scoring the basketball. He looked great out there hitting all sorts of different shots and running as a pseudo point guard. There’s still a little work needed to be done in the halfcourt offense, but that will come with time.

Player of the Game (Hornets) Michael Kidd-Gilchrist – Welcome back MKG. He missed most of last year with a shoulder injury, and many had mentioned how Kidd-Gilchrist worked tirelessly on his offense this offseason most notably his shot. It made a difference in Game 1 with 21 points and 14 rebounds. Great game for Kidd-Gilly. IF he keeps this up, Charlotte has a dangerous one-two combination with him and Kemba Walker.

(Not) Player of the Game: Jabari Parker – There were bad games all over the place for Milwaukee in an eleven point loss which was greater than the final score. Parker looked lost out there after such a strong preseason. My guess is this had to do with Kidd-Gilchrist on him most of the game. MkG is an underrated defender, and Bucks fans shouldn’t freak out over one bad game from Parker. If he sucks versus Brooklyn, let’s overreact a bit.

Positive sign – Malcolm Brogdon looks like the real deal, and you should get on his bandwagon earlier than later. Brogdon showed he belonged in his first professional basketball game. He had a couple big plays like getting out in transition for a big dunk as Milwaukee tried to come back and nearly hit a three that would have turned the Bradley Center into a frenzy.

Negative sign – Half court offense needs more than anyone thought it did before the season started. We all knew it might be difficult with Khris Middleton out with injury, but nobody saw it to be this hard. Way too much moving around for anyone’s liking yesterday. Hopefully, it’s due to a good defensive team, and not the fact that Milwaukee might be kinda bad (One game, I know).

Up Next: Milwaukee stays home to face Brooklyn who is considered by pundits to be the worst team in the NBA this season. Bucks and Nets have played some classics throughout the years although most of those coming in New York.
