CFB Bowl Picks: So Long Bowl Season

After today’s bowl games, the bowl season will be over minus Alabama-Clemson National Championship. It’s weird to have these games played on January 2nd. We’ve seen this a couple times due to college football not wanting to go up against big, bad National Football League. There are four games being played today, and it’s the last time that the College Football Semifinals will not be on New Year’s for the next five years. We took a couple tough ones on the chin to finish betting wise. The record stands 22-12 SU and 21-13 ATS
Rose Bowl: 9. USC (-7) vs. 5. Penn State 4:00 pm ESPN – This is a blue blood matchup, and Rose Bowl is always fun to watch for the sights and sounds. USC might be the hottest team not named Bama or Clemson in this dance currently. Trojans are revived by Sam Darnold and JuJu Smith-Schuster who have been a hell of a combination. Penn State loves the underdog role. They’ve done it all year. I’m not sure how Penn State moves through the air with Adoree Jackson and Iman Marshall patrolling the outside. They’ll need a big effort from Saquon Barkley to win this one. I’m riding the Trojans in a dominating finish to their season. USC 31-17

Sugar Bowl: 14. Auburn vs. 7. Oklahoma 7:30 pm ESPN – This game should be very fun, and we get Brent Musburger calling a shootout which is my dream way to end a bowl season. Oklahoma’s month off was memorable for all the wrong reasons. Bob Stoops came under great fire for decisions made to keep Joe Mixon and Dede Westbrook on the team after domestic violence issues. Sooners will try to avoid it being a distraction. Baker Mayfield is going to be a problem for this defense. It’s a decent one led by Carl Lawson, but the mobile quarterbacks have given Tigers fits all year. Look for a big day from him. Bad news for Soooners is Kamryn Pettaway is healthy again and looking to finish the year strong. He should have a big day on the ground. I like Oklahoma’s offense a touch better than Auburn’s in a close, fun shootout. OKLA 52-48
Outback Bowl: 17. Florida (-3) vs. Iowa 12:00 pm ABC – One of the worst bowls on the full slate. It’s not their fault there will be no offense to speak of in this game. I’m taking Hawkeyes in this game though. They do just enough on offense, and Desmond King can make a couple plays to switch the field. IOWA 13-10
