Elgton Jenkins Shushed Any Worries About Him Playing Left Tackle
Elgton Jenkins is one of the best players on the Green Bay Packers. He is not known that way by the national media types. Jenkins stepped into David Bakhtiari’s role on Sunday, and he did it perfectly. The Mississippi State product had the highest PFF grade in his first start at left tackle. That’s truly impressive. Not only from the left tackle side of things protecting Aaron Rodgers but facing a truly difficult pass rush with the New Orleans Saints. Jenkins should be proud of his efforts on Sunday.
The one positive from yesterday: Not only did Elgton Jenkins log by far the highest PFF grade of any Packer in his first career start at LT (41 pass-blocking snaps, no sacks, no hurries, one pressure), but…
he also finished the day with two tackles on both Rodgers INTs.

Part of me wonders what the future is for Jenkins. Do the Packers look at him as a potential option at right tackle moving forward? Bakhtiari has it on lock on the left side. Does Green Bay push Jenkins over? It’s not easy to go from left to right or vice versa so I would be curious to see if Green Bay rolls that route in the future. Jenkins could definitely do that. Billy Turner has two more years left on his deal. The Packers’ guard needs to get paid too, and he will. The question is will his agent try to get him paid like a tackle, not a guard?
