Giannis’ Chase-down Block Should Not Be Forgotten
Giannis Antetokounmpo played in Game 1 which no one really expected last week. There were rumors out there that Antetokounmpo would have been ready to go for Game 7. Some people thought that maybe Giannis should rest for Game 1 and get it going for Game 2. My podcast partner Mitch laid out a pretty good case yesterday. Despite that, Antetokounmpo was ready to go for Game 1. He did not listen to those who commented about rest. There was none of that. Giannis played and still delivered some highlights. The best of the night had to be the chase-down block at the end of the first half. This is one of the more incredible plays by Antetokounmpo

Immediately, people want to compare it to LeBron and that totally makes sense. I will not get sensitive about that. If LeBron James was a pro wrestler, the chase-down block is one of his signature moves. But this one did not have Giannis stalking his prey. Rather, he burst onto the scene sprinting to make the block happen. At the time, I thought this was a big change in energy and the Bucks would come out with a little firepower. They did not as Phoenix started to lay the hammer down in the second half. Milwaukee will also have this highlight for the Finals memories’ book.
