Green Bay Loses Lacy For Several Weeks

Word came out last night Eddie Lacy will miss several weeks with an undisclosed ankle injury. This is the first significant injury in Lacy’s career. It also comes at the very worst time as Green Bay at 3-2 is reeling a bit and many questions are surrounding the quarterback. Now, Green Bay has to figure out how to make their offense work without a running game. Welcome to 2011 without being the high-powered machine on offense. Here are a few things we could see happen.
Green Bay Goes To Playground-Style
When Packers offense since Week 7 or so has been great is the hurry-up offense with playground rules about routes. It lets Aaron Rodgers be a creator, and he seems to be more likely to let it rip. Usually the reason is Green Bay is trailing late and needs to make up point fast. But if Green Bay plays like that all the time to hid their run game, who knows, it might make for a fun team again.
Knile Davis or Don Jackson Hold The Water
You never know with running backs. All outsiders are bailing on Knile Davis saying he’s not going to help Green Bay, and there’s a reason he hasn’t played much in the last two years. I’m not dismissing that thought, but players switch teams all the time and end up having more success with their second team. We already talked about Jackson, but he’ll get an opportunity as well to make some noise for this Packers team.
Rodgers steps up
There has been so much talk again about Aaron Rodgers, and who he has as a quarterback right now. Rodgers’ back is up against the wall with criticism as well as being down a man in Lacy. They are probably going to more pass-first system which means all eyes will be on him. Rodgers should relish this moment and come up with a couple big games. He won’t be able to do it all himself, but he’s done it before with subpar running backs behind him.
Charlie.
