There have been many ex-Packers who head to the NFC North rival. They want to stick it to Ted Thompson and show they still have something left in the tank. Usually, Minnesota is the team that plays the new team, but this time, it’s Chicago. Sitton gets a 3-year deal for 21.75 million dollars with 10 million guaranteed. Sitton cashed his checks, and while people including Sitton say this had ‘Nothing to do with Green Bay, that’s the biggest lie in the game.

Why didn’t Sitton look at Seattle? They need offensive line help in the worst way, and Sitton could play for a Super Bowl contender. What about New Orleans or Jacksonville? New Orleans might be an outside playoff contender, and Jacksonville is his hometown. The only thing Chicago has going for him is Sitton and Bears’ offensive lineman Kyle Long are good friends. But other than that, Chicago is far away from a playoff spot with plenty of holes. Bears are a step back for Sitton, and it almost seems like a cash grab from him to get the most amount of money he could from a team. Sitton pulled off a heist making more money than what he was going to this season (6.5 million to 7.25 million plus 10 million sprinkled in there). If this isn’t about the Packers, maybe it’s about the money.

And that might be where the fracture happened with Ted Thompson and Sitton. He probably didn’t want to play this season without a new contract. Think about it if Sitton goes down with another back injury, he isn’t cashing in, or what if Sitton tears his knee up? Who is paying that man seven million? No one. He wanted a new contract just in case an injury would happen, and Green Bay wasn’t ready to do it. Thompson cut him loose and per Mike McCarthy’s comments, they don’t believe the guard position is that important.

The Thursday Night Football game at Lambeau in mid-October has another layer to the rivalry, but then we all remember, he’s just a guard.
