It’s not everyday Cleveland becomes the epicenter of the sports world. As Cleveland Indians’ next door neighbor the Cleveland Cavaliers were getting their championship ring, they were working on their first championship since 1948. Cleveland dominated Chicago in the first game of the series with a 6-0 victory. Indians take Game 1 of the series, and the last 12 of 13 Game 1 winners went on to win the World Series.

Kluber looks like the best pitcher in the baseball with nine strikeouts through six innings and eight of them came in the first three innings. It set the tone of the night in Cleveland that Kluber was ready to run shit and shut down Chicago’s offense. Cubs didn’t show much life besides a Kyle Schwarber double that would have left the part if the wind wasn’t blowing in. Cubs had a real chance in the seventh with the unhittable Andrew Miller with the bases loaded, no outs. Chicago couldn’t put anyone across as they had two strikeouts and a weak flyout that couldn’t plate a run.

The game-changer offensively was light hitting catcher Roberto Perez. If you take a minute at Indians Twitter, they love to shit on Jonathan Lucroy for not choosing to go to Cleveland, yet Perez is a glue that keeps Cleveland’s offense together. He hit two home runs in this game with a solo shot to extend their 2-0 lead then a moonshot on a hanging breaking pitch by Hector Rondon that doubled Cleveland’s lead.

Game 2 is tomorrow night with Mr. Drone himself, Trevor Bauer against Jake Arrieta. Not sure what we will see with both pitchers as Arrieta struggled mightily in his last game and Bauer hasn’t really pitched in two weeks. If this game is a slugfest, I will not be surprised.
