New Shot Clock Rules Hurt or Help the Bucks?

NBA will be voting to change the shot clock after an offensive rebound to 14 seconds. This is a drastic move, but something, we’ve seen from other leagues ranging from the NIT, G League, WNBA to name a few. It’s apparent this is something the league wants to make a reality at the professional level. It does change the game significantly. Teams do not have the ability to run out the clock in a late-game scenario with an offensive rebound, and most will be unable to get their offenses fully set back up. Would this purpose rule help or hurt the Milwaukee Bucks?
With Milwaukee’s struggles with defensive rebounds, I would say this is a negative only from the fact that you might see more scoring opportunities, therefore, more potential for made baskets. Now, the new regime could be different, and the rebounding issue doesn’t become a problem yet Milwaukee really isn’t known for their rebounding prowess. This does change the strategy and forces players to make smart decisions without really thinking about it. The game definitely gets sped up and becomes much quicker with more action versus seeing a team bleed out a clock.
It could be thrilling down the stretch. If you get a rebound prior to the 14 second mark, you could foul or play it out instead of sending people to the free throw line for multiple times throughout a finish. Things wouldn’t be as much of a free throw game in really tight games. I’m for it. I think this is a good way for the NBA to continue to grow in the future.
