Packers Fans, Let Michael Cohen Do His Job

Podcast partner Mitch Ross pointed out to me that Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reporter Michael Cohen’s Twitter mentions were on fire. I didn’t know why so I took a look, and sure enough, Cohen reported Geronimo Allison got caught with marijuana back in September. News came in today and according to Cohen’s tweets, he received the court info today hence the story. Packers fans acted like a player committed adultery, and a reputable news source reported on it. A story needed to be told and Packers fans need to respect the biz (Shouts to Pardon My Take).
Most player arrests are reported in some capacity whether it’s right when the incident happens or in Allison’s case, when it’s six months down the road. Why it took so long you ask fickle Packers fans? Allison didn’t get charged until December 15th which was three weeks ago. They set a court date for January 23rd, but Allison would not face discipline from the league until next year. Packers fans can’t seem to grasp how a person can write this story the week going into a huge game with Cowboys.
First and foremost, Packers players don’t give a shit about this story. They already know it probably, and the attitude should be ‘Cohen is doing his job’ although we saw how that went with Letroy Guion although that’s a much different story. In many ways, this story is a microcosm of the problems we face as a country when it comes to journalism and media. We always look for news that agrees with you that’s why conservatives watch FOX News, and liberals to MSNBC. That’s why those parties read different newspaper articles. People can’t face the music when it comes to hearing news stories.
Hope Cohen continues to report and Packers fans learn how to have thicker skin. But then again, they’re the St. Louis Cardinals of the National Football League.
Charlie.
