Packers Week 1 Excitement Meter

Welcome to the excitement meter. We toyed around with this in the first couple preseason games, and we’re bringing it for the season. Instead of trying too hard with pop culture references, we’re going with a pretty simple way to look at this thing. I’m pretty excited to start the meter out this week after an awesome Green Bay Packers victory over the Chicago Bears. This is much sweeter to create on Monday morning versus trying to figure out some bright spots against the Chicago Bears.
There are five categories… Category one – Six to Midnight excited. That should be self-explanatory. Category two – I’m feeling excited with a splash of unknown. Category Three – I’m starting to get excited but we still need some time. Category Four – Meh, I guess I’m a little excited but mostly disappointed. Category Five Excited – I’m very hungover and all I want to do is nothing yet I’m out and about.
Category One Excited – Aaron Rodgers: It’s hard not to put Rodgers in the top spot. The man ripped it up in the second half on one fucking leg. The legend of Rodgers grew tonight. He threw for nearly 300 yards and three touchdowns. The Rodgers we see where he has limited mobility is almost more fun because it forces him to make some decisions that he would not at full strength. We’ll see if we get QB1 next week.
Category Two Excited – Randall Cobb: Contract Year Cobb! What a game from Randy! The haters and losers said that Cobb might have lost a step, and that surely was not the case. Cobb went off for 142 yards with nine catches and a touchdown. The biggest touchdown of the game. Rodgers and Cobb have a special relationship. People sleep on these duo because they all trip over their guts to talk about the Aaron-Jordy relationship. You owe Randall Cobb an apology.
Category Three Excited – Kenny Clark: I’m probably more a category two with Kanny Clark than I am a three, but seriously, he’s the man. Clark controls the middle better than most in the league. He recovered the fumble at the end but did so much more throughout the game. Clark played a big reason why the Packers hung around all second half.
Category Four Excited – Bryan Bulaga: The only reason why Bryan Bulaga gets a spot up is due to the second half. Bulaga held his own in the second half against Khalil Mack and company. But the first half looked like an absolute disaster. Bulaga looked over-the-hill versus Mack as the All-Pro made some NFC North moments against him. Hopefully, Bulaga will play in himself in shape.
Category Five Excited – Clay Matthews: Boy, the contract year Clay Matthews prediction is not looking like a good one. Clay played most of the game getting put on his ass by the Chicago offensive linemen. Then when he finally chased the quarterback on a fourth down, he pummeled Mitch Trubisky two seconds late with a horrible roughing passer that nearly cost Green Bay the game. Thankfully, they survived with a Bears fumble on fourth down.
Next up: Packers stay home to play Minnesota. This is a revenge game for Rodgers and the Packers. After last year getting swept due to Rodgers injury, Packers want to reestablish who are the kings of the North. Excited for this one, and I hope Rodgers can give it a go.
Charlie.
