The Rashan Gary Hype Keeps Growing Each Day of Training Camp

Every Training Camp you typically see a few players that fans and even coaches might latch on to. They’re likely guys that will not make the team, or if they do, it’s special teams only. Every now and again, we see an established player get a big push from either the head coach, the front office, or his position coach. Rashan Gary is getting that push from his outside linebacker coach Mike Smith. He sang his praises yesterday, and Gary continues to be a focal point of this Packers’ defense. I’m certainly here for it.
Mike Smith on Rashan Gary's emergence in camp: "He's talking, and I'm glad he is. He's going to be a leader of this defense for a long time, and he has a right. He doesn't take plays off."

The underlying numbers for Gary were great last season. He made damn sure to find the quarterback or get close to him on almost every snap. It will be interesting to see how new defensive coordinator Joe Berry uses Gary. I could see them doing something where all three rushers – Za’Darius Smith, Preston Smith (Another guy that is receiving a ton of buzz this training camp), and Gary all lined up together. Push Z. Smith in the middle then like the two others wreak havoc on the outside. I’m very much here for a Gary breakout season and for Brian Gutekunst to once again, flip off the haters.
