Kyle Schwarber Heads Into Stands For Unreal Catch

New York Yankees-Chicago Cubs played a marathon of a baseball game to close out Sunday slate. Yankees end up with the sweep pulling it out in the 18th inning and look like the best team in baseball. One of the bigger moments of the game was Kyle Schwarber going all out to make a catch in the left field stands. It’s one of the better plays I’ve seen in baseball during this season. Cubs outfielder completely sold out for the baseball, and while it might worry some Chicago fans, it’s this type of shit that makes this guy a fan favorite with Cubs faithful.

Out of Cubs big three, Schwarber is probably the least defensively skilled of the bunch, and there was much hand-wringing this offseason about his ability to play outfield this season. This is a catch of someone who at least knows the position a little bit. There’s an incredible amount of timing that goes into making this catch. Of course, ESPN couldn’t help themselves calling it a ‘Derek Jeter-like’ catch because they’re playing Yankees. Let’s be clear, that Jeter catch is one of the best ever, and Schwarber isn’t close to that. Also, many other players have done similar catches.
