Marquette’s Women Hoops Takes Big East Crown

In March, the hope is you get a chance to talk about some of the local teams doing big things in college basketball. Truth be told, the last few have been tough on me not having my Golden Eagles men’s team in the tournament. The same could be said for those who are fans of the women’s team. Marquette women have risen from worst to first in a very short manner of a time with a young, energetic team. Golden Eagles defeated DePaul, 86-78, earning a trip to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2011.

They have a very fun team led by Natisha Hiederman who had the buzzer-beater from halfcourt to end the first quarter. As someone who doesn’t frequent Marquette women’s hoops, they were a joy to watch and recommend them to anyone who enjoys the sport. Marquette will await where they’ll be place in the NCAA Tournament. I would love it if they could lock horns with UConn. Just to see what might happen. I don’t think they win, but they have the shooters to make something crazy happen.
Congrats again for making memories happen in March.
Charlie.
