Who Would Packers Rather Have? – T.J. Watt or Vince Biegel
Would you rather is a game that is played in basements all over the country. It’s fun, and sometimes, you find answers about your friends that you didn’t know about. Green Bay needs some help with their linebackers. Three of their four main edge rushers are set to hit free agency on Thursday. Their inside linebackers return, but Packers haven’t seen much improvement from any player who played that position. Wisconsin Badgers have two guys of interest to Green Bay – T.J. Watt and Vince Biegel. The question is who would you rather have for Packers?
Case for T.J.
Uhh he’s a freak. Like Watt was one of the bigger winners of the NFL Combine. He checked in with some massive numbers across the board. There are still some questions about all of the things Watt can do on the field besides rush the quarterback. Watt can do that very well. If he’s an edge rusher for Packers, they immediately become terrifying with Clay Matthews on the other side and becomes a team of pass rushers with Dom Capers rebuilding that defense. Also the better the pass rush, the secondary doesn’t have to be as good in case Packers don’t want to address those needs this offseason.
Case for Biegel
He’s also a winner of the NFL Combine. Biegel put up the same crazy numbers as Watt, but he doesn’t get the attention. The reason is the last name. If Biegel had a famous brother in the league, people would pay more him. He’s an ideal 3-4 middle linebacker that can get to the quarterback on the blitz and is fast enough to cover tight ends. Both players present a swagger of sorts, but Biegel’s attitude shines through his play. He will not let you forget he made a tackle or sack and brings great emotion to the game. While Packers need edge rushers, middle linebacker continues to be a sore spot for this team. They could help aid some of those problems with new blood in town.
I’ve said it before I think Biegel is going to be better than Watt in the NFL. I fully understand Badgers aren’t a minor league for Packers amid some pinhead thoughts, but both players would fill a need.
