Packers and Letroy Guion Should Cut Ties

News came out yesterday that Packers defensive tackle Letroy Guion will be suspended for the first four games of next year’s National Football League schedule. This continues an impressive run with Green Bay Packers and their defensive line getting in trouble for substance abuse. It feels like Packers have reached a point with Guion where second chances are up, and he’s doing more harm than good on this team.
Guion received a sort of pass from everyone when he played great for the team in 2014. Even during that time, Green Bay’s leader of the defense Mike Daniels defended him talking about the ‘nasty attitude’ he played with. If you recall, a domestic violence incident had came to light through the local media. The following summer the Florida native had the incident in his hometown surrounding multiple guns, drugs and a ton of money. He ended up not coming away with any charges as he took a plea deal. This is essentially a third strike against Guion’s record in Green Bay.
He didn’t play all that well last season where it makes you wonder if he’s worth the issues. Packers are extremely thin on the defensive line currently so a case could be made to keep him. But after Packers showed a firm stance with Mike Pennel after consistent fuck-ups, it would be nice to see them do the same with Guion.
