Milwaukee Brewers offense is unpredictable. They’re like your friend at the bar whom you never know which version you’re getting on a Saturday night. They could be a happy drunk where they’re living their best life and one of the best people to be around. They could be an awful person trying to start fights with every person that slightly bumps into them. Or they could be dramatic and over-the-top about relationships. You never know what person you’re getting on a nightly basis. I feel this way about the Brewers offense. Every time you think consistency is coming for this team, they get cold. Or when they’re in a funk, they get hot. I guess that’s baseball but it’s partly why the Brewers are in the second spot in the National League Central.

Player of the Game: Michael Lorenzen – This guy is a sneaky Brewers killer. He hit a couple homers against the team, and now, he shuts the Crew down in a game they needed to win. Lorenzen pitched wonderfully through four innings only allowing one hit and one unearned run. He struck out three batters and only walked one. Lorenzen held his water in a bullpen game where the Reds impressed with good performances from Sal Romano, David Hernandez and others. Brewers had no answers.

Silver Star: Jose Peraza – He set the tone early on in this baseball game, and it proved to be the difference. Peraza belted a two-run homer off Chase Anderson in the first inning, and that was all of the offense Cincinnati needed in this game. Peraza has seen the ball well this season against the Brewers. That was his fourth homer versus Milwaukee this season.

Honorable Mention: Brewers Other Bullpen – If you want a bright spot from this game, the bullpen pitched pretty well after Anderson’s departure. They were the other guys pitched really well and kept the team in it, even if the offense didn’t deliver for Milwaukee. Xavier Cedeno, Corbin Burnes, Dan Jennings, Jacob Barnes, Taylor Williams and Jordan Lyles all did their jobs.

Next up: Milwaukee tries to get a 3-3 homestand tonight playing their final game of the year against Cincinnati. Gio Gonzalez goes for the Brewers. He wasn’t as magical in start two against Pittsburgh but pitched adequately. Matt Harvey goes for Cincinnati. Harvey has been great in his last two starts but struggled against the Brewers this season. Brewers lineup could look interesting with the injuries to Lorenzo Cain and Travis Shaw.
