We pick the five best things for the college football weekend and rank them.

1. Lamar Jackson’s hype train is transatlantic – I’m trying to remember when the hype was this big for a player in college football. It might be Johnny Manziel with the love and admiration people have for Lamar Jackson. He’s been called the second coming of Michael Vick. There are some Vince Young comparisons as well. Whichever one you like, he’s really good and made Louisville appointment television for the rest of the season. I believe Jackson will not be a one-month wonder and have a Heisman-contending year all season.

2. Ole Miss loses yet another big lead, this time to Bama – We thought Alabama might go down to Mississippi for the third straight years. Not sure if that happened before dinosaurs roam but it’s very rare to see Alabama lose that much to one team. But Ole Miss let Bama back in late with two touchdowns including a punt return by Eddie Jackson. Chad Kelly would make a few reckless throws costing the Rebs plus their run defense did not impress as Alabama got stronger

3. Ohio State looks like a Juggernaut once again – Many people including yours truly w orried about Ohio State’s young team going into Norman. Those fears were nonexistent as the Buckeyes dominate the Sooners in a big victory. J.T. Barrett had a great game finding Noah Brown on countless big catches. Curtis Samuel is going to be a star as well for this team. Defensively, they gave Baker Mayfield fits and he had a couple terrible interceptions.

4. Where does Notre Dame and Oklahoma go from here? – Not really sure. It’s mid-September and they’re probably out of the playoff race. Now, I will say this about each team… If the chips fall where we have a lot of one loss teams competing for the playoffs, Oklahoma and Notre Dame will get looked at different as a two loss team should they win out. Both losses came in the first three weeks of the season, and if they’re hot late, both teams would have an argument.

5. Week 3 fails to deliver the big moments – With all of these big games, you would have expected one premier must-see game, and it never happened The best game of the day probably belonged to North Dakota State-Iowa or Texas-Cal. Not the two games we were expecting.
