Star Ratings: Packers-Vikings

Star ratings returns for another season. Those not familiar with it, we look at how the Packers performed this week with five stars being the best and one star being the worst.
Five Stars
Stefon Diggs – Primetime games can make stars out of players. We see it every year. Just like Randy Moss stole center stage against Green Bay on a rainy Monday Night Football game, Stefon Diggs went bananas with nine catches with 182 yards with one touchdown. He absolutely burned Damarious Randall all game long. Diggs looked like one of the best receivers in football. The scary thing is he might be better with Sam Bradford than he would have been with Teddy Bridgewater.
Mike Daniels – One of the best players on the Packers defense looked that way on Sunday night. Daniels dominated Brandon Fusko from the first whistle until the last one. He looked fantastic out there making great push back to the quarterback. Green Bay has been a complete force against the run in the first two games, and it begins with Daniels up front.
Four Stars
David Bakhtiari – Even though he gave up a sack to Everson Griffin, David Baktiari played really well against one of the premier pass rushers in the National Football League. Bakhtiari looked like a guy fighting for a new contract rather than someone who just got paid. He handled his business on Sunday and played as well as he could protecting Rodgers back side.
Nick Perry – We might need the #NickPerryContractYear hashstag to get going as he looked great once again. Perry had an awesome playoffs and carried it over to the start of the 2016 season. He’s looked great off the edge and found his way to the quarterback yet again this week. Look for more Perry in the next two games with weak offensive lines in both.
Three Stars
Jared Cook – We are starting to see more good things from the Packers free agent. Cook found himself open in space a couple different times throughout the game. I didn’t like how he avoided contact from Harrison Smith and ended up costing the Packers a chance at a first down early on. Cook needs to embrace contact.
Julius Peppers – He showed up a little bit this week. Peppers might not be very good, but he still showed a little bit of something in the tank. I don’t think Pep played much of preseason so I’m not surprised he’s off to bit of a slow start. Peppers-Perry bull rush to crunch Bradford’s head was one of my favorite plays of the game.
Two Stars
Aaron Rodgers – Rodgers continues to struggle out there. We keep waiting for the turnaround to happen, and it’s not coming. Rodgers looked out of sorts against this Mike Zimmer defense and could do nothing with it. Zimmer kept adjusting whenever Rodgers figured something out. I do think Rodgers needs some fresh faces. Why didn’t Ty Montgomery or Trevor Davis get a couple looks as a change of pace. Very interested to see what Rodgers does against a bad Detroit team.
Sendejo being a loser – One of the dirtier plays of the game as he delivers a blow to Rodgers out of nowhere. Not cool and I’m sure it will be remembered for next time these two teams meet.
One Star
Damarious Randall – What a bad night for the young kid. He’s been so good, but we saw what happens with Sam Shields is out there with him.
Fumbling – Hold on to the damn football, please.
