Refs Admit They Screwed Up Warriors-Cavs Finish

We saw a great Christmas Day game between Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers where they came down the wire and Cavs pulled it out with a great shot by Kyrie Irving to win the game. To be put a damper on the game, NBA came out with a report that refs missed a few calls at the very end of the game. While it’s disappointing to hear this happened, this shouldn’t influence how we feel about what we wanted on Sunday afternoon.
Refs aren’t perfect. We need to make that clear. It’s rare we’ll get a game where there isn’t one problem with the officials. LeBron James should have got a technical to doing a pull-up on the rim in the final minute, but many officials are going to swallow the whistle when a star player does that especially after Richard Jefferson received a touchy tech earlier in the fourth. The non-call on Jefferson on Kevin Durant on the final play was far worse. We could all see Jefferson bumped him as Durant began to curl for the final shot of the game.
This isn’t going to help the pysche of Warriors though. This is their fourth straight loss to Cleveland, and Durant’s struggles against LeBron are starting to look like Charles Barkley versus Michael Jordan. If Cavs win again in the Bay Area next month, we could have some real conversations about Cleveland’s ownership of Golden State.
