Ryan Braun Deserves Better than the 2020 As His Last Season
Ryan Braun sounds like he’s done with baseball. That is perfectly okay. He is one of my favorite players of my lifetime. I will always remember Ryan Braun Day when the local radio station in now wished everyone a ‘Happy Ryan Braun Day’ when he got called up to play against San Diego. I will always remember defending him passionately after he had the PED issue that wasn’t really an issue. Peo[ple didn’t like how Braun treated a guy who did not do his job. And Braun’s career as a Brewer should be remembered like Robin Yount, but many people will not put him in that same classification. If this is the end for Braun, I’ll think about how his final games were played with no one in the crowd.
I get that baseball might not have full fans for the entire year, but to see a majority of the stadium cheering on Braun in his final games would have been special. Some fans didn’t want him back. And those people have forgotten what happened with Braun and chose to embrace him along with those, like yours truly, who have always been by his side. Knowing that the last time I’ll see Braun in a Brewers uniform was 2019 hurts in a big way.
It feels like the pandemic robbed us of giving Braun a proper send-off. And a part of me wants him to come back in the midseason. Could you imagine adding Braun in July for one more run at the World Series? It would be incredible and a huge shot in the arm. Despite that, the comments feel more like a guy who is done. He hasn’t picked up a bat. It seems like baseball is the last thing he’s thinking about right now.
As always, Ryan Braun forever.
