New Era has been making hats for a long, long time. Fitted hats took off in the late 90s and early 2000s with Fred Durst rocking the backward New York Yankees red fitted. Since then they have been popular along with different interactions. Snapbacks had their moments. Visors spent a few summers where they were super popular. Skull caps came through and had a moment too. New Era played a large part in all of those things. They revealed their newest hat and it is one of the worst things I’ve seen in a while. The Milwaukee Brewers one is so bad. Let’s count the ways.

First of all, there is one area code. 414 is important to Milwaukee and a rallying cry for the Bucks. But I would argue that the Brewers are more than just that area code. It should be 262 and maybe even 608. There is a lot of Brewers’ support that is more than just the 414.

A large cheese wedge out in front, how original. Can someone tell me what the Milwaukee Brewers have to do with cheese though? Milwaukee is not a large cheese producer. We eat a lot of cheese, sure, but cheese is not part of the primary part of Milwaukee. Wisconsin, yes. Milwaukee, no. That’s why the Beer on the other side should be out front. But there’s no way MLB would approve that. It would become the hat of frat boys across America.

The back of the hat is awful as well. The badger on the back would be appealing if everyone was a Wisconsin Badgers fan. While there is a good swath of them, not everyone is a Badger fan. Even if you were a Badger fan, do you want a Badger on your Brewers hat? Also, the state of Wisconsin seems highly not needed

If I had to say something nice about the hats, the Milwaukee and Cream City script on the side isn’t too bad. I like baseball too. That’s the only good thing about these hats.

Let’s throw these strictly in the trash.
