BIG CAT IS BACK! Tiger Woods made it official he will be playing at next week’s Safeway Open in Napa Valley. This will be Woods first tournament in over a year, and I couldn’t be more excited. This is the first time where the Fall part of the PGA Tour will actually be exciting. It’s sort of a forgotten part of the tour. I’m not sure if Woods will play more than one tournament during this fall. I wouldn’t be surprised if he travels to Asia for the HSBC as that would be a good look for him. It would be cool if he ended up playing half the fall season, but I’m not expecting much.

Expectations should be tempered for Woods. If Tiger makes the cut, I would call it a success, and if he finishes anywhere near the top 10, the overreactions will start piling in for the 2016-2017 season. Safeway Open is a pretty solid field with Bill Haas, Matt Kuchar, Phil Mickelson, Paul Casey and Emiliano Grillo plus Woods. That’s appointment viewing.
