What if Bob Nightengale is Wrong?

Bob Nightengale is a respected journalist for the USA Today. He’s been that way for awhile Nightengale called his shot yesterday that Ryan Braun will be a Los Angeles Dodger while Yasiel Puig and Brandon McCarthy will head to Milwaukee with prospects for Braun. He did not use the words ‘could’ or ‘might’ rather definitive words to make me think he really knows what could be the end result. But does it hurt Nightengale’s credibility if he’s wrong?
Probably not. He’s been around for a long time, but it does strike me as a bit odd he’s extremely confident Braun is headed to Los Angeles. Nightengale points out the Giants, but that’s it. I speculated on our podcast this week if David Sterns used this as a smoke screen for other teams to bit for Braun. If this doesn’t happen and Braun’s at Spring Training, things will get pretty awkward.
Selfishly, I want Braun back for the remainder two years on his deal. I’m definitely heading their tonight to see a couple of Braun’s last cuts as a Brewer if he indeed leaves the team.
Nightengale is calling his shot, and we’ll see how it play out for him.
