Star Ratings: Packers vs. Lions

Star ratings, your weekly look at the Green Bay Packers and how they did. We look at individual players and different moments of the game that made a difference in a good or a bad way.
5 Stars
Aaron Rodgers – Hell of a game from the quarterback. He had four touchdowns and seemed much more together. Rodgers said to T.J. Lang after his beautiful pass to T.J. Lang, ‘I’m back’ which is an interesting thing to say given everything. A part of me wonders if Rodgers’ trust for the offense wasn’t fully there until tonight. Interested to see if this is just against Detroit or the rest of the league.
Nick Perry – Contract year Nick Perry is a lovely thing. He played like a man possessed again on the outside. Perry finished with seven tackles, two sacks, two TFL’s and a pass break-up. He’s making the five million dollars look like chump change. He’s been playing like a complete stud all season, and he’s making it very difficult on other teams.

Eddie Lacy – We saw what happens when Big Ed gets the football enough. He rushed for 103 yards on 17 carries. As mentioned, this is the first 100-yard game from Lacy in the month of September. Green Bay found effective ways to use his strength and help wear down the Detroit defense. Lacy should stay around 15-20 carries per game.
Jordy Nelson – He’s starting to inch closer to being back for Green Bay. Nelson found more open spaces than he had in the past couple of weeks plus he grabbed a couple of touchdowns from his quarterback. If we get vintage Rodgers and Nelson starting after the bye, you’re all in a bunch of goddamn trouble.

Trevor Davis/Ty Montgomery – This isn’t really about production rather both of these players received multiple snaps on the field which is good to see for the future of the 2016 Packers. My guess is Monty and Davis will find their way into more games and be factors when the matchup calls upon it. Wonder if the deep fly to Davis will be a regular play each game, it should be.

Vanilla second half – I can’t really blame the Packers for going soft in the second half. They had a ton of injuries and wanted to just finish this ball game with minimal damage. Now, Detroit worked their way back, but the defense stood tall when they had to late in the fourth. I’m not concerned about the passing defense with all the injuries. No one can run on Green Bay and that’s a great thing.

Damarious Randall – Another bad outing for him, and I start to wonder if this is Davante Adams all over again. Adams played an elevated role last season that he wasn’t ready for, and I worry Randall is doing the same thing. Green Bay needs to figure out their secondary with New York coming to town.
