Corbin Burnes Ties MLB Strikeout Record In Dominating Brewers’ Win

Milwaukee Brewers pitchers seem addicted to setting records. Yesterday, we had a post outlining what Freddy Peralta is currently doing and how if he continues it into September, he’ll have the record. Last night, Corbin Burnes decided he wanted to set some records too. After the Brewers gave him a 7-0 lead, Burnes rolled the rest of the way. He struck out 10 straight batters with a majority of them being swinging strikes. The only other guys to do that are Aaron Nola and Tom Seaver.

What an absolute master class by Burnes. As many said on Twitter yesterday, he made a legit case for Cy Young last night. I get that it is more than one start, but people can point to do this one for Burnes. It’s like The Emmy’s. For The Emmy’s which is the premier television award show, TV shows submit one episode to be the one to look at for the award. This is Burnes’ one game that everyone could point to as a potential opportunity to be the Cy Young winner of the National League. But as I mentioned yesterday, it is hard to win when you’re competing against two of your teammates.
