Bucks Buzz Vol. 23: Toronto Owns Milwaukee

The rap superstar Drake is a minority owner of Toronto Raptors. He’s a supporter of the team even if he likes other teams in the league. If Drake is the Raptors then Milwaukee is Meek Mill. Consistently getting punked by their neighbors from the north. Toronto wins their six straight game against Milwaukee. It’s their 12 win in 13 tries versus Bucks, and Raptors remain red hot winning 11 of their last 12. In a way, we should have saw this coming from a mile away.
Player of the Game (Bucks): Jabari Parker – Bucks forward is on some kind of run of late. Parker finished the game with 27 points on only 17 field goal attempts. This is the third time in the last four games where Parker finished with 27 points. In the month of December, Parker scored over 20 points in five out of seven games. He’s played good basketball right now. Hat tip to Giannis’ night who had 30-8-5.
(Not) Player of the Game (Bucks): Michael Beasley – You could pick a host of players that didn’t show up tonight, but let’s roll with Beasley. This is his second straight game in single digits with only two points. Beasley went 1-for-5 from the field and didn’t do much on the defensive side of the ball either which is expected.
Player of the Game (Raptors) DeMar DeRozan – He continues a run to a starting All-Star spot. DeRozan finished with 30 points on only eleven shots. He got to the line 15 times and made all of his free throws. It was an Allen Iverson-like performance from Toronto’s shooting guard. Terrance Ross also came from the doldrums to have 25 points which makes a ton of sense.
Positive: First big Giannis and Bari game in awhile – It’s hard to find the last time that Antetokounmpo and Parker were really cooking together. It seems like it’s been one or the other. If Bucks had a couple more guys on tonight, it’s a shootout to the finish. Bucks didn’t have enough scoring to compete.
Negative: Defense, defense, defense – Bucks gave up 69 (nice.) points in the first half. This is the second time recently where Bucks surrendered over 65 points in a half. Raptors made 14 threes tonight including starting out making eight of their first 11. Bucks aren’t winning many games when their defense is this bad.
Next Up: Bucks get a few days off before welcoming Chicago to Bradley Center. Bulls-Bucks is always a fun game, and it always bring the Southern Wisconsin Bulls fans who had a Jordan jersey and decided to follow the team up for the game. SnoTap crew will be there as well. Bucks-Bulls first meeting of the year. Chicago won three of four meetings last season.
